Pink came to visit
To view bricks
Arrived to find gray
Where comfort laid.
Can’t feel a thing,
But sees plenty.
Only shadow,
On the wall.
Wished you were here.
Only split reality.

Very good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have been listening to Pink Floyd a lot lately, I was inspired by The Wall...
DeleteThe sad loneliness comes through in the last line...I like the split reality phrase.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janna, especially for noticing the last line, it took me some time to think about how to complete the poem and how to capture the feeling properly. I immediately thought of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" when I saw the picture prompt.
Deletesplit reality is great.
ReplyDeletelove the 'wish you were here' nod, also.
*nods head to The Wall*
Thanks kymm. P.F.is an all-time fav
DeleteLet no man bring together what the poet has rent asunder.
ReplyDeleteProvoked my thoughts, your comment today. My vocabulary has improved since I have been spending so much time in blog. Thank you.
DeleteOh Shawn-wow! This is so amazing! I loved "Arrived to find gray where comfort laid." Very cool language!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you dearly for you comment on my last post-I'm honored by what you shared with me. Blessings, friend-you sure are a bright spot in the blogging world!
Glad you liked my take on the photo prompt. Your last post touched me so very much.
DeleteShadows seem to bring out the dreariness...
ReplyDeleteTrue, unless they're shadow puppets being displayed on a tent wall during a fun camping trip!!!!
DeleteNot a Pink Floyd fan especially, but am of this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Forest Bird!
DeleteI got sad and lonely as well from this photo and it is nicely conveyed by your piece.
ReplyDeleteI know! The central shadows' figure was walking, head held low...brought the tone of the photo to a fairly low place. Thanks for your comment Dobson.
DeleteBeautiful work, Shawn!
ReplyDelete"Can’t feel a thing,
ReplyDeleteBut sees plenty."
Love this line. Powerful stuff. Great job on the prompt!
Oh, you hid a song reference in this one. Great work. Thank you for linking up!
